About The Position

NYC Parks is seeking athletic, outdoor recreation leaders and youth development outdoor educators to work as facilitators at an exciting challenge course facility in Queens. The role involves facilitating high and low-ropes programs for a diverse community including youth, adults, and people with disabilities. Additionally, the facilitator will lead off-course programs focusing on team building, leadership, and group dynamics, and perform routine assembly, inspection, and maintenance of the challenge course.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ropes course and climbing activities at Alley Pond Park.
  • Develop engaging activities for diverse audiences.
  • Greet participants and host daily programs at Alley Pond Park.
  • Inspect and maintain ropes course equipment both structural and worn by program attendees.
  • Ensure a safe environment for climbing both emotional and physical.
