About The Position

As an Outdoor Play Guide at River & Root, you will help create a special outdoor experience for families with young children. You will spend your shifts outside in a nature-inspired play space, preparing playful activities, maintaining the environment, and interacting with families. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working with their hands, and seeing the immediate impact of their work. You will be moving throughout the space, setting up play areas, refreshing activities, keeping things tidy, and ensuring the environment is ready for exploration. The role involves a physical component, including lifting and carrying play materials, moving equipment, filling water features, bending, cleaning, and assisting with setup and breakdown of the outdoor space. Additionally, you will welcome and check in families, help new visitors feel comfortable, answer questions, chat with caregivers, interact with children, and become a familiar and friendly presence in the community. We are seeking someone who brings both energy and warmth, is happy to assist with resetting or cleaning, and genuinely enjoys engaging with people and helping families feel welcome. The ultimate goal is to help create a space where children can play freely and families enjoy spending their time.

Requirements

• Proactive and notice details that enhance the welcoming and cared-for feel of a space.
• Take pride in creating a clean, organized, and beautiful environment.
• Comfortable working independently while also being part of a supportive team.
• Dependable and able to consistently commit to scheduled shifts.
• Must not bring own children to work while on shift.
• Requires full attention throughout the shift.
• Must complete a background check prior to employment.
