About The Position

WECU is seeking a full-time Outbound Relationship Officer to join our Contact Center team located in Bellingham, WA. This position is responsible for processing and/or finalizing a wide variety of member transactions including opening and maintaining all account types and loan offerings. By using effective communication with prospective and current members, this individual will sell credit union products and services to better the lives of our membership and achieve organization goals. This is a full-time position with availability required for a rotating Saturday shift from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a WECU Service Consultant or Relationship Officer or related experience in a similar role at a financial institution or 3 years sales and customer experience in a retail environment may be accepted instead.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant training and/or lending or sales experience in a credit union, bank or other financial institution preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the organization's mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service, treating each person professionally - with warmth, courtesy and respect, cross-selling additional services, and making a personal effort to make members feel they belong and are important to the credit union.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of all types of account ownership and account classifications to assist members in making the most effective use of credit union services.
  • Examines, evaluates, and authorizes or makes recommendations on approval of borrower applications for consumer loans.
  • Identifies additional or potential lending and/or account opportunities in each interaction.
  • Acts as a liaison between the member and the credit union through outbound attempts to maintain/gauge/improve existing membership and/or finalize new membership.
  • Effectively interviews members to identify needs; proactively explains and refers available financial products and services to strengthen the member relationship.
  • Demonstrates an aptitude for closing a sale, being able to ask for their commitment or suggest additional products or services.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively balancing making outbound calls while taking return inbound calls.
  • Fosters a spirit of cooperation to ensure the success of the team.
  • Displays flexibility regarding scheduling.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, which will include occasional Saturdays.
