About The Position

In accordance with the organization's mission, vision, and values, the Outpatient Evaluator is responsible for conducting comprehensive substance use evaluations, biopsychosocial assessments, determining level of care recommendations, and making appropriate referrals in accordance with OASAS and organizational standards. The Evaluator works collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure timely access to treatment and continuity of care.

Requirements

  • CASAC, CASAC-P, CASAC-T, and/or Qualified Health Professional (QHP) required.
  • Experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments and utilizing DSM criteria for diagnostic evaluations required.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with culturally diverse persons, staff and community service providers.
  • Knowledge of local behavioral health system.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, exercise sound clinical judgment, and respond effectively during crisis situations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive substance use and mental health diagnostic evaluations, including biopsychosocial assessments, utilizing DSM criteria and other required assessment tools.
  • Determine the appropriate level of care and make recommendations for treatment and referrals in accordance with OASAS, agency, and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required clinical documentation, assessments, treatment recommendations, and referrals accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Provide evaluation services across all FLACRA outpatient clinic locations, as needed, to support client access to care and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with counselors, medical providers, peer specialists, care managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care and appropriate service coordination.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with referral sources, community providers, and other external partners to facilitate timely access to treatment.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis and emergency situations and follow agency protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, clinical supervision, agency training, and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with the development and ongoing improvement of evaluation processes, workflows, and documentation practices.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new clinical staff, as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of OASAS, OMH, Medicaid, and other applicable regulatory requirements related to evaluations, admissions, and documentation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practice, cultural competency, and person-centered care consistent with FLACRA's mission, vision, and values.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, agency policies, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
