Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years (2500 hours) documented child care related experience.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
  • Completion of required trainings.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, directing and coordinating the Out of School Time programs.
  • Ensuring high quality programs and establishing new program activities.
  • Expanding program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Managing and implementing Keystone STARS, DHS, and CYEDC requirements.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and directing personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviewing and evaluating staff performance.
  • Developing strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Developing, managing, and controlling budgets related to the position.
  • Ensuring program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Supporting and budgeting for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Providing and teaching strong classroom management skills as you continue to treat each child with respect.
  • Visiting classrooms regularly to provide support, visibility and ensure programs are at functioning at high quality levels.
  • Assuring compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Ensuring that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
  • Providing for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensuring the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Responding to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Providing staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintaining proper records/department files.
  • Organizing special events for parents.
  • Assisting in YMCA fund raising activities.
  • Compiling program statistics.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Performing any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
