As an OTR Tire Technician, you will perform tire service and repair for large-scale mining equipment while upholding Kal Tire’s safety and operational standards. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic mining environment where your skills directly impact safety and performance. This position follows a 7 Days On / 7 Days Off rotation, working 12-hour shifts. Upon successful completion of your training, you'll have access to additional site opportunities and a variety of shift schedules, including Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO), 14-on/14-off, and 5-on/2-off rotations. 7 Days On: Work full shifts on-site, gaining hands-on experience, building expertise, and working closely with a skilled team in a fast-paced mining environment. 7 Days Off: With a full week off after every rotation, you'll have ample time to rest, recharge, travel, and enjoy meaningful time with family and friends while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Training begins in the classroom at our Fort McKay location. As you progress, you will train alongside experienced tire technicians in our commercial shop, retail store, service truck and various mining sites in the Wood Buffalo region. After the completion of the 3-month training program, you will have the opportunity to transfer to another Kal Tire service location in the region and continue your career advancement.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of related experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to meet site access requirements
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check, Drug & Alcohol Test, and Physical Evaluation
  • Candidates considered for the role must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Mining or heavy industry experience is an asset
  • OTR certifications and equipment experience are assets

Responsibilities

  • Perform tire service work, including mounting, dismounting, balancing, and repairs
  • Inspect tires and related components to ensure safe operation
  • Operate tire servicing equipment and maintain tools
  • Support maintenance teams and complete required reporting
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and hazard reporting
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to site requirements
