About The Position

Galloway Company is seeking an organized, hands-on OT Systems Administrator to coordinate its Operational Technology environment, including the Foxboro control system and supporting infrastructure. This coordination-focused role handles routine administration and lower-complexity technical tasks directly while partnering with controls engineers, outside consultants, and Foxboro field support on complex work. As part of the IT Department, the position works across IT, engineering, operations, and maintenance to support reliable, available plant-floor systems in a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The administrator coordinates OT planning, projects, vendor work, system monitoring, backups, patching, hardware procurement, and documentation. The role supports basic cybersecurity practices in partnership with IT and outside experts, who lead advanced security work. Foxboro expertise is not required on day one; strong systems administration, organization, communication, coordination, and judgment are emphasized.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in systems administration, IT/infrastructure support, or a similar technical role.
  • Solid general systems administration skills, including Windows Server, basic networking, backups, and patching.
  • Ability to coordinate vendors and contractors, track project tasks, and communicate clearly between technical experts and plant staff.
  • Working knowledge of, or genuine willingness to learn, OT and industrial control system concepts such as Foxboro, PLCs, SCADA, historians, and industrial networks.
  • Basic awareness of industrial network and cybersecurity concepts, such as segmentation and access control.
  • Strong documentation habits and organizational skills.
  • Comfort working in or adapting to a safety-critical, 24/7 manufacturing environment where plant uptime and stability are priorities.
  • A two-year or four-year degree in Information Technology or a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Direct OT experience.
  • Familiarity with the Purdue Model or ISA-95 approach to separating plant-floor systems from business IT.
  • Exposure to virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V) and OT-appropriate backup and recovery.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and OPC-UA.
  • Experience with network monitoring, asset management, or ticketing tools.
  • Prior Foxboro or other industrial control system experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for the OT environment, handling routine administration and lower-complexity tasks and coordinating outside specialists for other work.
  • Partner with controls engineers, systems integrators, and Foxboro field support on design, engineering, and complex troubleshooting; schedule work around production, track it, and follow it through to completion.
  • Work with outside consultants on long-term OT planning and help build and manage project plans for automation projects, plant expansions, and system upgrades.
  • Contribute hands-on to project tasks within the role’s scope and coordinate vendors and specialists for higher-complexity technical work.
  • Help plan and procure Foxboro hardware for expansions and improvements.
  • Coordinate server backups and patching with appropriate vendors, aligning them with production schedules and uptime requirements.
  • Monitor Foxboro system health using System Auditor and other monitoring tools, and engage Foxboro field support for deeper diagnosis or intervention.
  • Support basic cybersecurity practices, including access control and network segmentation awareness, in partnership with IT and outside experts.
  • Maintain documentation such as network diagrams, system configurations, backups, vendor contacts, and standard operating procedures.
  • Act as the technical liaison across IT, engineering, maintenance, operations, and external vendors.
