About The Position

This position is for an Occupational Therapy student to assist with technological interventions. The role involves managing and organizing technology resources, conducting research on emerging technologies relevant to OT practice, synthesizing evidence, organizing student assignments, and managing lab equipment. The assistant will help maintain an inventory of technology, track equipment status, organize digital resources, identify new technologies, create literature summaries, and potentially assist with data documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be an Occupational Therapy student.
  • Ability to work 5 hours per week.
  • Familiarity with technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Organizational skills for inventory and literature management.
  • Research skills for identifying emerging technologies and synthesizing evidence.
  • Ability to collate and organize student submissions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI, virtual/augmented reality, wearable technology, smart-home technology, telehealth, robotics, 3D printing, or accessibility technology.
  • Experience in developing standardized procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and cleanup labs and classes.
  • Maintain an inventory of technology, devices, adaptive equipment, apps, accounts, and accessories.
  • Track technology availability, storage, and condition (repair, replacement, updating, charging).
  • Organize digital resources and shared course folders.
  • Periodically search for new technologies relevant to OT practice, including AI, VR/AR, wearables, smart-home tech, telehealth, robotics, 3D printing, and accessibility tech.
  • Identify emerging technology areas and bring potentially relevant technologies or articles to the instructor's attention.
  • Create brief annotated bibliographies or evidence summaries.
  • Organize literature by topic, population, intervention, outcome, and level/type of evidence.
  • Maintain a searchable literature database.
  • Collate and organize student submissions.
  • Categorize student projects/resources by technology type, population, practice area, etc.
  • Prepare equipment/materials before labs and return them to their designated location afterward.
  • Check that devices are charged, functioning, and ready for use.
  • Help develop standardized setup/cleanup procedures for labs.
  • Maintain organized records of technology used, resources found, equipment needs, and course updates.
  • Potentially track technology/resource usage for future course planning or accreditation.
