About The Position

The Haverhill YMCA is seeking energetic and caring team members to join our Before and After School Programs serving elementary schools in Haverhill, Georgetown (Penn Brook), and Amesbury (Shay School). These programs run Monday-Friday, with Before School hours from 6:45 AM – 9:00 AM and After School hours from approximately 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM. This is a rewarding part-time role where you can make a real impact, enjoy working with children, and grow leadership skills in a supportive, mission-driven organization. Whether you're looking for morning hours, afternoon hours, or both, this is a great opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children while maintaining a flexible schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Must meet all licensing requirements for a Group Leader as established by the applicable licensing agency
  • Demonstrated understanding of child growth and development, with the ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices when working with children
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for children and families
  • Must successfully complete all required fingerprinting and background screening requirements prior to employment
  • Must maintain all required documentation and certifications within the employee file as required by licensing agencies
  • Must complete all required trainings, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with licensing regulations and YMCA of the North Shore standards
  • Commitment to upholding YMCA policies, procedures, and core values

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children is preferred but not required

  • Lead and support fun, age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and fellow YMCA team members

  • Help children start and end their school day feeling supported, encouraged, and connected
