About The Position

Sigma Technologies is hiring an OSP Field Designer to support telecommunications projects through a combination of field data collection, route verification, drafting, and design. The initial work areas are Northern Louisiana and Central Arkansas, including the Shreveport, Louisiana, and Little Rock, Arkansas, areas. Assigned areas may change as project needs shift, and the role requires travel outside the initial areas, including overnight travel when needed. When not collecting field data, the position works remotely. Regular local fieldwork is required, with possible travel of 50%–75%. The employee must use a personal vehicle; mileage is reimbursed, and the company covers hotel costs and provides daily per diem for required overnight stays. New hires attend a paid, two-week in-person onboarding and training at the company's Perrysburg, Ohio headquarters. The designer conducts outside plant (OSP) field walkouts, site surveys, and route verification; documents infrastructure and field conditions; maps collected data; and converts field observations into accurate design inputs and construction-ready packages. The role also performs OSP fiber design and 2-D civil drafting for telecommunications projects, using CAD, GIS, customer software, and other business systems. Work includes interpreting technical documentation and standards, addressing design issues, considering project constraints, and supporting project and joint-use documentation. The role collaborates with project and field teams and may perform other duties as assigned. The position requires availability during core hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, with flexibility for fieldwork, travel, project demands, and occasional overtime. Candidates must have dependable transportation, a valid driver's license, valid insurance, and authorization to work in the United States. Employment is contingent on passing background, drug, and driving record checks. Physical requirements include prolonged sitting and computer use, fieldwork in varied terrain and weather, and lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds. Sigma Technologies is an engineering and design firm serving the power and telecommunications industries. Its teams support utility, broadband, and infrastructure projects across the country. The company identifies Safety, Honesty, Truth, and Decency as its values. Pay is commensurate with experience and education.
