About The Position

The Maryland Higher Education Commission is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and experienced individual to work in their busy Office of Student Financial Assistance. This position serves under the Program Manager within a specified unit within the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA). The position provides advanced administrative, operational, and analytical support and assists in managing a portfolio ranging from 3-8 state financial aid programs; including grants, scholarships, and legislatively mandated awards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager in coordinating multiple state financial aid programs, ensuring all activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support unit operations by providing staff guidance, training, workflow coordination, and contributing to process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain program documentation, procedures, and materials to support efficient and compliant program administration.
  • Collect, analyze, and reconcile program data, and contribute to reports, summaries, and internal or external communications.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, providing customer service, responding to inquiries, and participating in outreach and informational activities.
