Orthotist-Prosthetist Technician
About The Position
The Harborview Prosthetics and Orthotics Clinics have an outstanding opportunity for an Orthotist-Prosthetist Technician. This role provides technical support to orthotic-prosthetic practitioners by fabricating and repairing orthotic and prosthetic devices. The work is performed at multiple UW Medicine facilities, including the Prosthetic-Orthotic Laboratory, and inpatient and outpatient locations at Harborview Medical Center and UWMC. The technician collaborates with the rehabilitation team and communicates effectively with team members, patients, families, and community resource representatives. Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Orthotics-Prosthetics Technician program OR equivalent education/experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication techniques for prosthetic and orthotic devices, including lamination procedures, finishing processes for orthoses and prostheses, prosthetic bench alignment, vacuuming forming of orthoses and prosthesis and cast preparation.
- Fabricate footwear following specific patient requirements and fit specifications, as determined by P&O provider.
- Prepare positive models for lamination or vacuum forming.
- Perform finishing processes for fabricating procedures done to clinician satisfaction.
