About The Position

Under a physician's direction, this role involves applying and adjusting plaster casts and assembling and attaching orthopedic traction equipment and devices. The position assists in assessing patient needs and providing fitting/finishing services. Responsibilities include applying and removing casts, orthopedic splints, and devices, as well as applying and adjusting braces, splints, and compression stockings. Patient education on the use of orthopedic equipment and cast and traction care is also a key part of the role. The technician will monitor and communicate changes in patient condition, document patient care, and maintain examination areas. This includes ensuring equipment and instruments are assembled/disassembled and available for procedures and examinations, as well as maintaining medical supplies through reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role provides organizational and clerical support to facilitate optimal care and clinic operation.

  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position

Responsibilities

  • Assists in assessment of patient needs and fitting/finishing services of patients.

  • Applies and adjusts orthopedic devices such as braces, splints, and compression stockings, as directed.
  • Provides patient education in the use of orthopedic equipment and cast and traction care, as directed.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Maintains examination areas; assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations.
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Provides organizational and clerical support to facilitate optimal care and clinic operation.
