Under a physician's direction, this role involves applying and adjusting plaster casts and assembling and attaching orthopedic traction equipment and devices. The position assists in assessing patient needs and providing fitting/finishing services. Responsibilities include applying and removing casts, orthopedic splints, and devices, as well as applying and adjusting braces, splints, and compression stockings. Patient education on the use of orthopedic equipment and cast and traction care is also a key part of the role. The technician will monitor and communicate changes in patient condition, document patient care, and maintain examination areas. This includes ensuring equipment and instruments are assembled/disassembled and available for procedures and examinations, as well as maintaining medical supplies through reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role provides organizational and clerical support to facilitate optimal care and clinic operation.
