About The Position

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona, employing approximately 400 providers and 1200 support staff across more than 73 subspecialty services. DHMG physicians provide clinical services and are involved in academic, research, and leadership roles, preparing future healthcare providers through 25 academic programs with 84 medical school students and approximately 200 residents and fellows. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program (Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours).
  • Demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients (as related to Medical Assistant).
  • Six months related experience (as related to Orthopedic Tech).
  • Demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients.
  • American Heart Association BLS card.
  • Strong orthopedic anatomy knowledge.
  • Aseptic techniques.
  • Device application skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience highly preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
  • Previous experience in designated specialty.
  • Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a basic level of patient care and treatment.
  • Assist with obtaining vital signs.
  • Document chief complaint.
  • Obtain patient history.
  • Provide assistance to physicians, residents and/or licensed nursing personnel.
  • Alert physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities.
  • Perform casting, splinting, traction application and various soft good applications.
  • Work with providers, residents, nurse practitioners, and nurses to coordinate ongoing orthopedic needs.
  • Assist providers with wound care.
  • Prepare patients.
  • Educate on device care.
  • Ensure comfort during applications/removals.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Document interactions.
  • Maintain hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens.
  • Collect laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
  • Assist the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
  • Retrieve necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Perform follow-up actions as directed.
  • Document clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care.
