Orthopedic Tech
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of qualified orthopedic personnel and according to established policies and procedures, the Orthopedic Tech performs technical and non-technical duties. These include applying traction equipment, applying and removing casts, providing operating room assistance, maintaining equipment, ensuring adequate inventory and supplies, and performing related duties. The role is at DMC Harper University/Hutzel Women's Hospital. DMC Harper University Hospital is a specialty referral hospital recognized for clinical expertise and innovative research, with Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention, and heart failure.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with additional classes in basic science and anatomy.
- One to two years of experience in related patient care activities.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to maintain productive relationships with medical and nursing staff.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for passing instruments, cutting sutures, and related work.
- Ability to stand and walk while performing daily rounds at least 80% of the time.
- Ability to reach, bend, push, pull, and lift while applying or adjusting orthopedic equipment and assisting patients.
