About The Position
The Orthopedic Technician assists physicians in the application and management of casts and braces. They provide instruction and assistance to resident physicians in cast, splint, and brace application, and give instruction on proper care of casts, braces, etc., to patients. The role also involves providing instructions to rotating medical students, assisting with orders, and maintaining an adequate stock of orthopedic supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED
- One (1) year direct patient care experience

Responsibilities
- Educates patients regarding casts, splints, or braces following application
- Collects and records patients' medical history and acquires patient vital signs.
- Advises patients regarding treatment, medication, and specific physician instructions
- Collects lab samples and completes documentation for submission to lab
- Monitors inventory of and obtains necessary supplies and/or equipment for patient care in orthopedic unit
- Performs other duties as assigned
