Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Plus One (1) year of direct patient care experience.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an Orthopedic Technician
  • Orthopedic Technician certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional and competent assistance to physicians with the application and management of casts for patients with orthopaedic problems.
  • Provides technical instruction to resident physicians and medical students in the area of application of orthopaedic devices.
  • Ensures that casts, splints, and other devices are properly fitted and educates patients on proper healthcare practices.
  • Provides patient instructions and teaching on their casts, splint, and/or brace following application.
  • Provides coverage for the Orthopaedic Clinic, patient care floors, operating room, and emergency room as requested.
  • Will be required to work in an on-call capacity as needed.
  • Obtains necessary supplies and/or equipment for patient care in the orthopedic clinic.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and clinic staff meetings.
  • Participates in orientation with new staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
