About The Position

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Orthopedic Surgery for a Locum Tenens position in Mason City, Iowa. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, including clinical duties and call coverage. The position is for supplemental coverage from August 2026 onwards, with a Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM shift schedule, and nights and weekends for call. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. The practice serves a hub hospital and 16 surrounding counties, with a population of over 200,000 and a hospital volume of 160. The facility has onsite lab, medical imaging, and pharmacy, with 2 exam rooms and 3 cast rooms. The EMR systems used are GE Centricity for the clinic and Epic for the hospital. There are 4 physicians in practice, supported by 1 nurse per provider and 3 cast techs for 7 providers.

Requirements

• Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE)
• Active Iowa license or compact license
• Clean record

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical orthopedic care in outpatient clinic setting
• Perform surgical first assist and participate in orthopedic surgeries
• Round on post-operative inpatients and provide inpatient consults
• Respond to emergency department consults for orthopedic conditions
• Take weeknight and weekend call coverage for orthopedic trauma and emergencies
