About The Position

The Modern Frontier – Oklahoma City is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to join their team. This role involves direct patient care, clinic coverage, surgical coverage, and on-call duties. The surgeon will provide comprehensive orthopedic services, including clinic and surgical care, and will be present for all orthopedic procedures. Responsibilities include rounding on postoperative patients, participating in morbidity and mortality conferences, and providing discharge education and follow-up instructions. The Oklahoma City VAMC is a 192-operating-bed facility serving a large veteran population and is a teaching hospital with state-of-the-art technology, education, and research.

Requirements

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
Any state license is honored; must have a clean, full, and unrestricted license
Board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or the American Board of Medical Specialties
BLS/ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
Two years of recent experience in arthroplasty procedures and orthopedic trauma/fracture care

Responsibilities

Direct patient care (estimated 95% of the time)
Clinic coverage
Surgical coverage
On-call 24/7 (including weekdays, weekends, holidays)
Remote and onsite consultations
Rounding related to patient care
Providing orthopedic care, including clinic and surgical care and comprehensive clinical orthopedic services
Being present in the operating suite for all orthopedic procedures
Conducting rounds on postoperative patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and on the wards
Discussing all cases in morbidity and mortality conferences and providing appropriate information for departmental reports
Being present and on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries start times
Providing discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all orthopedic clinical or surgical patients
