This position is located at Canton-Potsdam Hospital (primary) and Massena Hospital (secondary).

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Current or eligible New York State Physician Assistant license
NCCPA certification required
Strong clinical, communication, and patient-centered care skills
BS: Physician Assistant (Required)
PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - NYS Office of Professions
Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning.
Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments.
High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns.
Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus.
Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

We welcome both experienced Physician Assistants and new graduates with orthopedic experience or a strong interest in orthopedic surgery.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat orthopedic patients in both clinic and hospital settings
First assist in the operating room alongside orthopedic surgeons
Perform inpatient consultations, postoperative rounding, and follow-up care
Assist with fracture management, splinting, casting, injections, wound care, and other office-based procedures within scope of practice
Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care providers, rehabilitation services, emergency medicine, and specialty consultants
Opportunity to develop advanced orthopedic skills while working with a high-volume, collaborative practice
