Orthopedic Physical Therapist

CLS Health PLLC•Webster, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

CLS Health is seeking an Orthopedic Physical Therapist for its outpatient program in Houston, Texas. The program works closely with orthopedic providers to help patients recover from injuries and surgery, improve function, and return to activities that matter to them. Therapists provide evaluations and ongoing skilled treatment, with PT tech support for clinic flow, equipment preparation, and cleaning. The therapist will join a department being built from the beginning, with opportunities to contribute to clinical workflows and the patient experience. The role works with a treating clinic director and collaborates directly with referring providers. The care approach emphasizes listening to patients, understanding their concerns and motivations, explaining treatment clearly, and helping them take an active role in recovery. Providers are expected to see 12 to 16 patients per day. The clinic prioritizes one-on-one care or no more than two patients per therapist at a time whenever possible, with scheduling that accounts for evaluations, patient complexity, and documentation needs. Treatment frequency and duration should reflect medical necessity and progress toward patient goals. Providers are responsible for meeting productivity measures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) required.
  • Active Texas physical therapist license.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and interest in continued professional development.
  • Fundamental understanding of human psychology and ability to apply it through active listening, thoughtful communication, and patient education.
  • Ability to communicate the value of treatment without pressuring patients or making unrealistic promises.
  • Ability to take ownership of an individual caseload and follow through on patient concerns.
  • Ability to receive feedback and contribute to team development.
  • Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of clinical experience is preferred, ideally in sports or outpatient orthopedics.
  • Orthopedic or sports residency training, OCS or SCS certification, or advanced clinical training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough evaluations and develop individualized plans of care with measurable goals.
  • Treat orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including patients recovering from surgery.
  • Use objective findings, clinical reasoning, and patient responses to guide treatment and progression.
  • Listen to patients’ concerns, expectations, and personal goals before making assumptions about their needs.
  • Explain plans of care and connect treatment to the activities patients want to resume.
  • Recognize hesitation, frustration, or uncertainty and respond with curiosity and clear explanations.
  • Build patient buy-in through honest expectations, meaningful progress, and an understanding of each person’s motivations.
  • Identify barriers to attendance or participation and work with patients to address them.
  • Provide practical home programs and confirm patients understand how to perform them.
  • Recognize changes in condition or concerns that require further medical evaluation.
  • Communicate with referring providers about progress, barriers, and discharge planning.
  • Complete accurate evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries within clinic and payer deadlines.
  • Select codes that reflect the care provided and document treatment time and medical necessity accurately.
  • Participate in case discussions, chart reviews, and continued clinical development.
  • Follow consent, safety, and infection control procedures and provide appropriate direction to support staff.
  • Take ownership of an individual caseload and follow through on patient concerns.
  • Meet productivity measures.
