Orthopedic Assistant
About The Position
Join our team at Missoula Bone & Joint and Surgery Center as an Orthopedic Assistant and play a vital role in delivering high-quality orthopedic care to our patients. In this hands-on clinical position, you will work closely with physicians and providers to support patient care throughout their visit, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and compassionate experience from start to finish. This onsite opportunity allows you to be part of a collaborative clinical team in our modern Missoula, MT facility. The role is full-time with a total of 29 hours per week. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a clinical setting
- BLS certification required
- Ability to work flexible clinic hours and assist during busy clinic days
Nice To Haves
- RN, LPN, CMA, ATC, or equivalent medical field education or experience
- Previous orthopedic or clinical healthcare experience
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHR)
Responsibilities
- Helping manage patient flow
- Escorting patients to exam rooms
- Assisting with gowning and positioning
- Gathering health histories including medications, allergies, and surgical background
- Documenting patient information and care activities in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Assisting providers during examinations and procedures
- Applying and removing casts and splints
- Performing wound care and dressing changes
- Removing sutures or staples
- Preparing injections
- Assisting with sterile procedures
- Fitting and providing durable medical equipment (DME) such as braces or orthopedic boots according to established protocols
- Placing orders for labs and imaging studies such as MRIs or CT scans
- Scheduling surgeries and procedures
- Coordinating pre- and post-operative appointments
- Helping manage referrals to other providers when needed
- Maintaining clean, stocked exam rooms
- Following infection control and safety protocols
- Ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
- Providing excellent patient-centered service
