About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time position in their Orthopaedic / Non-operative Sports Medicine practice. This role primarily involves daytime hours, with evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. The NP or PA will collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality outpatient care to patients with sports-related conditions and osteoarthritis. The practice focuses on osteoarthritis of large joints, including joint injections, strains, sprains, tendonitis, fractures, and sports concussions. There will also be some involvement in basic metabolic bone health. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential, and the candidate must be eligible for billing.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role)
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role)
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role)
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NP role)
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role)
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role)
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role)
  • Strong communication and clinical skills required.
  • Must be eligible for billing.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with all members of the health care team to provide high quality (outpatient) care to patients with sports related conditions and osteoarthritis.
  • Focus on osteoarthritis involving large joints including joint injections, strains, sprains, tendonitis, fractures, and sports concussions.
  • Some work involving basic metabolic bone health.
  • Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
