About The Position

We are a growing dental office focused on delivering exceptional orthodontic care in a supportive, patient-centered environment. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant supports the orthodontist and clinical team in providing high-quality patient care. The role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming, comfortable experience for patients of all ages. This is a part-time position scheduled for three days per week. Workdays vary based on the office’s scheduling needs. Patient hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. The listed pay is $17–$24 an hour.

Requirements

Prior dental assisting experience.
Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
X-ray certification as required by state.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Positive, friendly, and professional demeanor.
Strong patient communication skills.
Ability to multitask and stay efficient in a busy clinical setting.
Team player with a proactive attitude.

Nice To Haves

Orthodontic assisting experience or certification, if applicable.
CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Experience with dental software such as Dentrix, Ortho2, or Open Dental preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs.
Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision, in accordance with state regulations.
Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed.
Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover.
Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
