About The Position

Join Guthrie as an Orthodontic Assistant and be part of a dedicated team serving patients. This role involves supporting orthodontists during patient care, preparing rooms, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient comfort. Additionally, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic by sterilizing instruments, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, scheduling appointments, and assisting with front-office tasks. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Dental Radiography certification required within 12 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in orthodontics is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive on-the-job training.
  • Support orthodontists during patient care by preparing rooms, assisting with procedures, and helping patients feel comfortable.
  • Sterilize instruments, stock supplies, and maintain equipment.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with insurance or front-office tasks.
  • Obtain dental and medical history and personal information, and record treatment rendered on charts.
  • Expose, develop, and mount radiographs.
  • Perform duties based on analysis of the treatment plan.
  • Keep exam rooms clean and stocked, including supply ordering.
  • Keep oral area clean by using suction devices, water sprays, cotton rolls, and holders, and by retracting cheek and tongue.
  • Perform certain impressions, pour and trim models, and prepare them for treatment.
  • Arrange instruments, materials, medications, and hands to the orthodontist as needed.
  • Sterilize instruments and store them.
  • Prevent cross-contamination during use by practicing barrier techniques.
  • Support clerical duties including scheduling appointments, point of collections, answering telephones, and completing insurance forms for coverage and pre-determinations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and keep equipment and working area clean at all times.
  • Take care of lab cases, send out and receive.
  • Complete insurance forms for coverage and any other administrative duties.
