About The Position

Taylor Dental and Braces is seeking a full-time Orthodontic Assistant to support its mission of providing quality, affordable dental care and creating positive patient experiences. The role involves compassionate clinical assistance, patient and parent guidance, orthodontic procedures, recordkeeping, and maintaining operational readiness. The position serves patients in the community, including children, who make up 70% or more of the patient base. The listed schedule is four days per week, 32 hours total, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Monday in Gentilly, Tuesday in Gretna, and Wednesday and Thursday in Metairie. Travel within the assigned territory is required. Work is performed in a professional office, clinical, or support environment, depending on the role and business needs. Team members may be required to work extended or alternate hours during peak periods or to support operational requirements. Scheduled hours and work location may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

Orthodontic or Dental Assistant Certification, depending on state requirements.
CPR/BLS Certification required.
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience in orthodontic assisting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver quality and compassionate care to every patient.
Guide parents and patients through processes before treatment.
Educate patients in oral hygiene and provide postoperative instructions.
Prepare patients for examinations and treatment.
Take x-rays and save them to patient charts.
Take quality orthodontic facial photographs.
Maintain operational readiness.
Prepare tray setups for dental procedures.
Mix amalgam, cement, and pulp paste, and prepare impression materials.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
Clean chairs and rooms.
Assist professional dental staff with treatment.
Document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in patient charts.
Pour, trim, and polish impression casts.
Fabricate custom impression trays.
Adhere to government regulations, company standards, and compliance programs.
Participate in community events, including school screenings and presentations, to promote a positive image of the company.
Participate in morning huddles and recognize colleagues' customer focus and collaboration.
Perform other duties as assigned.
