About The Position
Birmingham Orthodontics is seeking a talented and caring Orthodontic Assistant to help provide high-quality patient care. The assistant works under the direct supervision of a licensed Orthodontist, helping with examinations and orthodontic treatment, preparing operatories and equipment, and supporting clinical workflows. The role also includes conducting digital scans, assisting with customized appliances and retainers, educating patients, and accurately documenting treatment.
Requirements
- Experience in orthodontic or dental assisting.
- Familiarity with orthodontic appliances, procedures, and terminology.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Orthodontist during exams and treatments, helping patients feel comfortable and procedures run smoothly.
- Prepare operatories, sterilize equipment, and support clinical workflows.
- Perform orthodontic procedures such as placing and removing wires, coil springs, bands, and retainers under direct supervision.
- Conduct digital scans and assist in fabricating customized appliances and retainers.
- Educate patients about treatment plans, oral hygiene, and appliance care.
- Record treatment notes accurately and collaborate with the team throughout the patient’s care journey.
