Fanatics is building a leading global digital sports platform, igniting the passions of global sports fans by offering products and services across Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming. Through this platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, collect physical and digital trading cards and memorabilia, and bet. Fanatics has an established database of over 100 million global sports fans and a global partner network with approximately 900 sports properties. Fanatics Collectibles is a new company operating at the intersection of collectibles, culture, and technology, backed by world-class investors and partners. It leverages the broader Fanatics ecosystem to reimagine the collectibles experience. The Original Art Coordinator role supports the execution and growth of the Original Art Program, managing artist partnerships and commissioned artwork across multiple programs to ensure alignment with brand direction and program needs. This role serves as a key liaison between Fanatics Collectibles, licensors, and artists, supporting art direction development and guiding execution through artist engagement. The coordinator oversees artist participation from onboarding through delivery readiness and collaborates cross-functionally with Product Development, Licensing, Legal, Accounts Payable, and Vendor Support to ensure program success. The ideal candidate will possess strong artistic judgment, organizational, and project management capabilities to effectively manage creative partnerships within a structured business environment.

Requirements

  • Based in San Diego, CA.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field such as art coordination, creative project management, artist relations, design, or entertainment / sports licensing environments.
  • Solid understanding of art fundamentals, including color theory, artistic mediums, style development, and composition, with the ability to evaluate artistic fit for brand and program needs.
  • Passionate about collectibles, storytelling, and visual culture across entertainment and sports.
  • Knowledgeable about film, comic books, the entertainment industry, pop culture, and sports.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple artists and timelines in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Able to work cross functionally across creative and business teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging effectively with artists and internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled in handling and maintaining sensitive data with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and familiar with digital illustration platforms such as Procreate or similar tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint) with experience using Airtable, Formstack, or similar platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Art, Illustration, Design, or related creative field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage original art across multiple programs from artist engagement through delivery readiness.
  • Serve as liaison between Fanatics Collectibles, licensors, and artists to ensure alignment on creative expectations.
  • Curate and engage artists whose style and strengths align with brand and program needs.
  • Develop art direction for programs and ensure alignment throughout artist execution.
  • Own artist partnerships and manage their participation across assignments, timelines, and artwork progress.
  • Coordinate artist onboarding, contracting, and payment readiness in collaboration with Legal, Accounts Payable, and Vendor Support.
  • Represent Fanatics Collectibles at industry events as needed to identify and engage prospective artists.
