About The Position

Aurora of CNY, an affiliate of Liberty Resources, is hiring a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist for its Blind Rehabilitation Services Program. The specialist provides orientation and mobility services to eligible consumers who are legally blind or visually impaired. Services are intended to advance the agency’s mission and help consumers maximize their functioning, potential, well-being, and independence. Requirements

Master’s degree, or bachelor’s degree with Orientation and Mobility certification from an AER-approved university program, and two to three years of experience.
AER Certification in Orientation and Mobility.
Valid New York State driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Work directly with consumers to help them obtain services and adaptive equipment that maximize functioning, potential, well-being, and independence.
Conduct ongoing assessments to identify consumers’ strengths and barriers and establish clear goals affecting safety and independence.
Coordinate and collaborate with providers and support services for each consumer, including developing a comprehensive Care Plan and/or IEP.
Maintain relationships with community service providers to help ensure consumers are well supported.
Complete required documentation, maintain case records, and submit statistical information on time and in accordance with program standards.
