About The Position

The Organizational Development Department for the City of Georgetown is offering one (1) internship position to help support the Business Improvement Program, the Performance Management Program, and Learning and Development by performing a variety of project management and specialized professional-level administrative support tasks. The intern will also learn about the other functions of the Organizational Development Department, including coordinating with various departments and conducting varying levels of analysis regarding a variety of improvement efforts. The student intern would be primarily working in an office environment. The internship’s anticipated start date is August 10, 2026, and the anticipated end date is December 2, 2026. The internship is approximately 28-40 hours per week (Monday through Thursday 8am - 4pm, with an occasional Friday). Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume. Telecommuting or remote work is not available for this position.

Requirements

  • Third- or fourth-year student pursuing a four-year Bachelor's degree, or currently enrolled in a Master’s program, in one of the following fields (or a related discipline): Human Resources, Business or Public Administration, Economics, Psychology, Math, or Sociology; OR A transitioning military service member with relevant experience, skills, or training applicable to the internship role.
  • Good customer service practices and principles
  • Best practices for working with data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Monday.com
  • Continual attention to detail: must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize duties and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Ensuring outstanding customer service
  • Communicating diverse content and responding effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Using a computer and utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including advanced word processing/desktop publishing, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting procedure manuals, reports, memos, correspondence, and other documents
  • Data analysis and problem-solving
  • Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Effectively articulating and presenting information to management
  • Using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives
  • Accurately recording and maintaining records
  • Must be comfortable speaking with new people in person, via telephone, and through e-mail communication

  • Work with minimal supervision and direction
  • Dependable transportation is required.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three (3) year driving history.

  • Microsoft Power BI, Visio, and or survey platform skills are helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assists in learning and development initiatives, which may include training, development, and delivery, event planning, and working within the learning management system
  • Assists in the preparation and coordination of various reports and initiatives
  • Assists in project management activities, including project planning, research, data collection, and report preparation
  • Works on and manages assigned improvement projects, which may include the facilitation and use of tools and techniques that promote continuous improvement
  • Effectively organizes and prioritizes multiple assignments and projects
  • Provides professional-level support to Organizational Development and performs skilled administrative, operational, and consulting duties (e.g., conducts and analyzes research, program development, project management/coordination, shares best practices, and conducts focus groups)
  • Makes both formal and informal presentations to staff members, officials, and the general public
  • Maintains current knowledge of city administrative procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Help maintain the internal website
  • Update templates and boards within Monday.com task management system
  • Facilitate SWOT and or action planning workshops to groups of varying sizes
  • Build marketing and outreach materials using Canva

Benefits

  • The hiring range is $15.00, hourly.
