About The Position

Active Minds is seeking a Development Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This remote internship is designed for current college students and recent college graduates residing in the U.S. The Development Intern will learn about the essential work of supporting a nonprofit's mission by inspiring donors and will gain insight into how Active Minds raises funds to support its network of campuses, workplaces, and communities. Interns may focus on areas such as Individual Giving, Development Operations, Community Fundraising, or Corporate & Foundation Relations. Responsibilities include strengthening communication and people skills through donor outreach, event planning, data entry, fundraising campaign preparation, donor prospect research, and content creation for various communications. Interns will also collaborate with other teams and contribute to nationwide fundraising initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to do substantive work, gain experience in the nonprofit sector, and contribute to changing the culture around mental health.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or have previously attended, a U.S. based college or university
  • Able to complete a work authorization (I-9) during onboarding
  • Able to complete the entirety of the internship program during the listed dates
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Team player with a willingness to learn
  • Marketing, business, and/or customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, Zoom, and Dropbox

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with college or other fundraising a plus (i.e., fundraising/philanthropy committees of student organizations)

Responsibilities

  • Connect with staff across the organization to learn more about their work
  • Directly impact the success of nationwide fundraising initiatives
