About The Position

The successful candidate will have a strong background in organic, physical organic, or materials chemistry, with expertise in organic molecular design, chemical synthesis, and mechanistic understanding of molecular systems. The ability to develop and test structure-property hypotheses through synthesis, characterization, and experimental investigation is required. The candidate should have experience studying molecular interactions, phase behavior, and the relationships between molecular structure and physical and chemical properties. Candidates should also be well-versed in molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC, mass spectrometry, and related analytical methods. The successful candidate will contribute both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams to advance research programs across a variety of strategic technology areas. The candidate is expected to build productive collaborations both internally and with external research organizations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular design and/or chemical synthesis.
  • Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and mechanistic chemistry.
  • Experience establishing structure-property relationships through experimental investigation.
  • Knowledge of phase behavior, molecular interactions, and physical property characterization.
  • Experience with molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC, mass spectrometry, and related methods.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Strong record of publications, presentations, patents, or other evidence of technical impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Knowledge of chemical and process thermodynamics and reaction kinetics.
  • Experience with industrially relevant chemistry, process chemistry, or catalytic systems.
  • Familiarity with chemistry associated with industrial processes and scale-up considerations.
