About The Position

The OHP Specialist is responsible for helping eligible clients enroll in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), Healthy Kids, as well as assisting clients to purchase health insurance through the Federal Marketplace. The OHP Specialist educates potential applicants to make an informed choice on their healthcare options and conducts follow-up on enrolled clients. This full-time position takes place out of our NW Portland residential facility. Training takes place in various NARA facilities around Portland, including Gresham. Travel to different sites is expected during the training period.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to reliable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in an office environment
  • Proficiency in experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Oregon Health Plan and Indian health programs and services.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intake for Oregon Health Plan, Healthy Kids and Federal Marketplace.
  • Track OHP applications, eligibility, and renewal dates.
  • Update client electronic health record (EHR) if OHP application shows a change.
  • Assist clients in renewals and completion of application forms for Medicaid insurance.
  • Assist in training for NARA staff on OHP and the Federal Marketplace.
  • Participate in outreach activities to identify and enroll eligible clients.
  • Educate clients and other community members about the Affordable Care Act.
  • Assist clients in obtaining required citizenship documentation and proof of tribal heritage.
  • Collaborate and maintain professional boundaries with clients, NARA staff, and team members.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Travel to various NARA NW sites, including community outreach events.
  • Assist clients with applications for other state or federal programs such as social security, voter registration, and SNAP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
