About The Position
The orderly provides routine housekeeping and environmental sanitation in our Surgi-centers. You will also assist with inventory control, materials management, and the transportation of patients.
Requirements
- Must be comfortable providing the highest level of care to our patients
- Must maintain knowledge of infection control and basic sterile technique
- Must have an understanding of proving patient care
- Must be comfortable in a fast paced, pressured environment
- Must be flexible and able to work multiple shifts
- BCLS preferred
- High school diploma required
- Prior hospital or surgi-center experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- You’re a team player who works well with a team and independently
Responsibilities
- Dispose of waste in appropriate receptacles and report general repair issues to building manager
- Maintain the supply of linens and empty hampers as needed
- Setup anD break down OR’s as necessary
- Collaborate with the circulating nurses to assist with patient flow
- Take patients from pre-op to OR, and to post-op, and attach appropriate apparatuses
- Report patient observations to the nurses
- Exercise basic knowledge of patient body mechanics during positioning
- Assist in the setup of the OR (switching foot pedals, setting up the scope, etc…)
- Transport patients to their cars via wheelchair during discharge
