About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Ability to communicate well with internal customers and management.
  • Ability to follow safe working practices, as instructed.
  • Ability to efficiently work independent of direct supervision.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The associate is frequently required to stand and walk while performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a warehouse environment where temperatures can vary from very cool to very warm.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
  • Pick orders quickly and accurately and in a manner, which allows the order checker to verify the product quickly and efficiently.
  • Package the products in a professional manner (i.e., label each box with the “Re-Pack” sticker, repacking product into larger cartons or totes).
  • Place the orders on the appropriate pallets, ready for shipping out; these pallets are then to be arranged (stored) by route number in the designated locations.
  • Ensure labels are arranged on pallets appropriately.
  • Ensure that they have checked all the products in the temporary out of stock portion of the picking slip for custom packs and pre-packs.
  • Notify Supervisor or forklift operator if in need of replenishment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. This includes disposing of pallet boards, wood chips etc.
  • Remove and report damaged products. It is the responsibility of all Order Selectors to remove any damaged product they may see during picking and report the item # and number of pieces or cases to the Supervisor on duty so he/she can adjust the inventory count. The product, if not fit for consumption, should be immediately placed in the garbage. If the product is still consumable but not sellable (usually dated), the Supervisor will arrange for disposal (Food Bank or sell-off).
  • Complete orders prior to ending shift.
  • Supervisors may assign Order Selectors temporarily to other duties, such as general cleanup, unloading of containers or repackaging. etc.
  • Correctly inspect and maintain power equipment (where required).
  • Other duties and special projects as requested.
  • Must maintain good attendance and safe work practices.
  • Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
  • Should be comfortable working in a Fast-paced warehouse setting with exposure to multiple temperature zones, including: Ambient (dry storage): 55°F–75°F (13°C–24°C), Refrigerated/cooler: 32°F–45°F (0°C–7°C), Frozen: -10°F–0°F (-23°C–-18°C).
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • May require working in cold or freezer environments for extended periods.
  • Use of warehouse equipment such as scissor lifts, pallet jacks, forklifts, or reach trucks.
  • Role may involve early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or overtime depending on operational needs.
  • Requires adherence to PPE guidelines, including cold-weather gear in low-temperature zones.
  • Other duties and special project as required
