About The Position

Music & Arts is seeking an orchestral strings teacher to teach private music lessons and inspire students. The teacher will create an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment for students of varying ages and skill levels, while helping them develop their musical abilities and build a lifelong relationship with music. The role includes communicating with students and parents about goals and progress and coordinating with store teams on lesson scheduling and student retention. Music & Arts handles administrative work so instructors can focus on teaching. The listed pay is $15 per hour for non-teaching work and $10–$24 per hour for teaching, depending on background and experience. Musicians employed by Music & Arts may use gig leave to take time off to perform and return to their job afterward.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
• Two years of music teaching experience, especially with string instruments.

Nice To Haves

• Further teaching experience with related instruments.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Music.
• Professional teaching memberships or certifications.
• Eight or more years of teaching experience, especially with multiple instruments, including banjo, baritone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, French horn, guitar, mandolin, oboe, percussion, piano, piccolo, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice.
