About The Position

Steel & O’Brien is seeking an Orbital Welder to join its Data Center Cooling team in Arcade, New York. The role sets up, programs, and operates orbital welding equipment to produce precise, high-quality welds that meet engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements. It involves detailed hands-on work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and production teammates. The position requires regular, consistent attendance. Requirements

Proficiency in orbital welding processes, techniques, and equipment operation.
Ability to read basic measuring devices.
Ability to cut and form tubing and other fittings.
Understanding of metallurgy, materials science, and welding symbols.
Ability to work in a high-precision environment and follow strict tolerances.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Regular, consistent attendance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Set up, program, and operate orbital welding equipment to complete high-quality welds.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, welding symbols, and welding specifications.
Inspect materials and completed welds to confirm they meet industry standards and project requirements.
Maintain and calibrate welding equipment for reliable performance.
Follow safety protocols and workplace best practices to prevent hazards.
Work with engineers, technicians, and team members to support precise, efficient work.
Perform quality checks and document welding work.
Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues.
Help develop designs for welding projects.
Use a variety of tools and equipment.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor or management.
