About The Position

The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a dedicated Oral Health Program Coordinator to lead the new Oral Health Moving Across Utah (OHMAU) initiative. This five-year federally funded project expands access to pediatric specialty dental care across rural Utah through an innovative mobile dental unit program. In this role, you will lead day-to-day grant management, partner with local health departments and school districts in Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), build community educational resources, and coordinate statewide outreach to ensure underserved children receive quality oral healthcare.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene with an active Utah Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing. License must be maintained throughout employment.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with an active Utah Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. License must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, administering, and monitoring state or federal grants and budgets.
  • Proven track record planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex health policies for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience designing or managing public health and oral health programs in rural or underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with state procurement systems, RFPs, and contracting processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history check.
  • Must be eligible for a full benefits package.
  • Must meet Driver Eligibility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day implementation of grant deliverables, manage program budgets, track technical assistance, and maintain thorough documentation for federal reporting.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with local health departments, school districts, healthcare providers, and community partners across Utah.
  • Train and mentor participating project staff, providing ongoing field support and connecting rural sites to oral health resources.
  • Draft, produce, and distribute evidence-based community education materials following DHHS guidelines.
  • Work alongside State Purchasing and State Finance to develop RFPs, Statements of Work (SOWs), and vendor contracts, while managing partner invoice processing.
