About The Position

Designs, develops, validates, and supports network systems for enterprise, data center, and cloud environments. The role contributes to network automation and scripting, testing and quality assurance, monitoring and reliability, incident response, and performance and capacity management. It works with vendors, internal teams, project managers, and customers to validate configurations, meet project milestones, follow networking standards, and resolve network issues. The position also guides junior engineers and contributes to operational documentation and continuous improvement.

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI eligibility with Poly is required.

Nice To Haves

Six or more years of experience in network engineering, electrical engineering, cloud programming, or networking research and development; or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or a related field and two or more years of such experience; or a master's degree in one of those fields.

Responsibilities

Design and develop network systems for enterprise, data center, and cloud networking environments.
Validate production networks, assist with scaling use cases, participate in network solution design, and identify risks before deployment.
Work with vendors and internal groups to validate network configurations, hardware, firmware, software, and cloud network code.
Contribute to playbooks and process improvements for standard network changes and investigations.
Contribute business logic to automation frameworks and automate network tasks in production, lab, and support environments.
Write scripts and use infrastructure pipelines, configuration items, established playbooks, and other resources to automate routine tasks.
Build and customize dashboards, telemetry systems, and alerting mechanisms to monitor network health.
Develop and implement test cases and strategies, guide junior engineers on testing practices, and provide break-fix validation.
Conduct post-event root cause analysis, review network changes, communicate changes for change-management review, and verify compliance and readiness criteria.
Gather Government, Risk, and Compliance data and develop scripts to streamline data collection.
Define and interpret network health metrics, trends, and thresholds to support service level objectives.
Implement monitoring and alerting systems, participate in operational support rotations, respond to incidents, investigate root causes, and support escalated issues.
Develop tools and solutions that help frontline support teams respond to network failures.
Coordinate with project and program managers on testing and deployment milestones; guide junior engineers and serve as a subject matter expert for routine issues.
Contribute to incident response and root cause analysis documentation, roadmap and software architecture discussions, and adherence to networking standards.
Analyze latency, throughput, packet loss, and other service metrics to identify efficiency issues; use capacity and security information to support anticipated infrastructure growth.
Track timelines, prioritize work as resources or schedules change, collaborate with teammates and stakeholders, troubleshoot issues, and escalate problems as needed.
Pursue learning and knowledge sharing, use feedback and training to improve skills, and contribute to process and workflow improvements.
