The Oracle DBA Manager is the organization’s utmost senior hands-on Oracle database resource and primary Oracle DBA, responsible for daily administration, support, reliability, performance, security, backup/recovery, and lifecycle management of Oracle databases and Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS). This is not a primarily administrative management role; it is a hands-on senior technical role first, with supervisory responsibility for the Oracle DBA team and oversight of outside consultants. The role works alongside and collaborates with the Applications, Infrastructure, Security, and Networking teams within IT, and is responsible for disaster recovery planning, Oracle database and EBS upgrades, testing and installation of new software, security and recovery programs, and backup processes to prevent data loss. The role also supports Oracle Data Guard, cloning, Incorta, Oracle Cloud initiatives, other Oracle-based or database-backed business systems, and other systems as needed. The Oracle DBA Manager assesses company needs regarding data storage and access, creates and maintains database systems to meet those needs, oversees database uptime, diagnoses and repairs database issues, remediates vendor service requests, and leads work related to capacity planning, installation, configuration, design, monitoring, general database health and maintenance, performance tuning, and data integration and migration. As leader of the Oracle DBA team, the position provides day-to-day technical direction, mentoring, work prioritization, and appropriate separation/split of duties while remaining the primary escalation point and most senior hands-on practitioner.
