About The Position

Assist in the transportation and positioning of patients, prepare the patient and room for surgical procedures, and assist the surgeon with instruments and suture passing. Responsible for maintaining instrument counts and ensuring efficient turnover of the operating room.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Non-Certified: Graduate of OR technician program or on-the-job training with documentation
• Certified: Certified Surgical Technologist exam through NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
• 6 months technical experience or specialized training

Responsibilities

• Assist in transporting and positioning patients
• Assemble and dismantle tables and instruments before and after procedures
• Prepare patient and room for surgical procedures
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
• Complete skin preparation and draping
• Assist surgeon with gowning and gloving
• Pass instruments and suture to the surgeon
• Maintain correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges
• Apply dressings and bandages as needed
• Assist in identifying, collecting, and caring for specimens
• Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Aid in the efficient turnover of the operating room
• Monitor and restock supplies
