Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent - Required
  • Minimum of 6 months prior experience in another facility.
  • Certification from clinicals completed required
  • BCLS Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a surgical technology program - Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments in the OR suite and ensures their proper set-up, assists surgical team during the surgical procedure(s).
  • Understands the procedures being performed and can anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during procedure.
  • Transport to decontamination room upon completion of the surgical procedure.
  • Handles instruments and supplies correctly and ensures their proper functioning.
  • Responsible for all instruments, maintaining them in good working order, and assuring the availability of needed instruments to do all surgical cases.
  • Maintains sterile field and counts all instruments, sponges, needles etc, needed for each case.
  • Has necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.
  • Cleans, assembles, and prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies for sterilization when needed.
  • Follows proper sterilization processes.
  • Participates in testing and recording of all Biotesting for the sterilizers and autoclaves in the department as needed.
  • Responsible for confirming equipment while in the OR/Procedure room. Sterile field has been appropriately processed/sterilized.
