About The Position

The OR RN provides professional nursing care for Jefferson Health, using the nursing process to address each patient’s physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs. The nurse develops individualized plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, respecting their preferences, cultural beliefs, and values. The role works collaboratively with patients, families, coworkers, and interprofessional teams to provide safe, compassionate, coordinated care and to support quality improvement, learning, and inclusion.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a specialized diploma.
Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice and ability to collaborate respectfully in care and care planning.
Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Effective communication skills, including accurately conveying and interpreting information and respectfully delegating to team members.
Knowledge and ability to assess patient ailments and injuries and implement a treatment plan.
Knowledge of adult and child education techniques and ability to educate patients and care partners about conditions, treatment, medications, and recovery.
Knowledge of medications and their administration, including prescribing drugs for continuing treatment outside the hospital.
Knowledge of post-discharge needs and ability to collaborate on discharge plans and follow-up care.
Knowledge of patient assessment tools and techniques and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgment.
Knowledge of health-information documentation and ability to document histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, plans, procedures, tests, and results.

BSN, or completion of a BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, is strongly preferred.
