About The Position

The Registered Nurse Circulator assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the operating room during surgical procedures. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and accurately documents care for patients undergoing surgery, providing age-specific care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The role coordinates nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes and helps maintain a safe environment for patients. The nurse also educates patients and families about surgical procedures and provides excellent customer service to patients, families, coworkers, and physicians. The position practices in accordance with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act, AORN guidelines, the facility’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

The role is located at Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The schedule is Monday through Friday with varying shifts of eight, ten, or twelve hours.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Louisiana.
• One to two years of operating room experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• CNOR certification.

Responsibilities
