About The Position

Within the context of a client and family centred care model, and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works in a team based environment and plays a significant role in ensuring that the overall surgical booking and slating requirements are met. Applies critical thinking and uses current knowledge of procedure protocols and computerized systems to schedule and assign the daily procedural bookings. Duties include identifying available booking options, preparing and editing preliminary Operating Room slate, completing and distributing final slate to designated areas, as well as compiling, maintaining and distributing designated operative statistical information and surgical waitlists, ordering office supplies, typing and filing correspondence. Also acts to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure patients and/or their family have a positive experience with the designated services.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
