RHRP Optometry Technician
About The Position
We are seeking Optometry Technicians to provide dental exams and treatment to Military Service members. This role primarily involves weekend work with occasional weekdays in Arkansas, on an "as needed basis". The company provides health readiness services to meet the medical and dental requirements for a deployable military force for various branches including U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard, U.S. Navy Reserve, U.S. Marine Forces Reserve, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, Air National Guard, and U.S. Air Force Reserve. The position requires direct patient interaction, operation of optical machinery, and use of patient care software. Duties include assisting the optometrist with procedures and patient care, taking patient histories, maintaining patient records, assisting patients with frame selection, demonstrating lens care and maintenance, repairing minor eyeglass issues, organizing the office, and testing visual acuity, depth perception, pressure, and pupil reflexes.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician
- Experience performing visual fields, OCTs, and Fundus Photography is required
- Experience with computers, including knowledge of and experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
- Must have own transportation for site traveling
Responsibilities
- Helping the optometrist with procedures and patient care
- Taking patient histories and maintaining the patient records system
- Assisting patients to select a suitable frame for their glasses
- Demonstrating care and maintenance of lenses to patients
- Repairing minor issues with broken and damaged eyeglasses
- Keeping the office organized and presentable, and making the exam room ready
- Testing visual acuity, depth perception, pressure and pupil reflexes
- Operate optical machinery
- Interface with patient care software
