RHRP Optometry Technician
About The Position
We are seeking Optometry Technicians to provide health readiness services, meeting medical and dental requirements for a deployable military force. This role involves working directly with patients, operating optical machinery, and using patient care software. The services support various branches of the U.S. military, including the U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard, U.S. Navy Reserve, U.S. Marine Forces Reserve, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, Air National Guard, and U.S. Air Force Reserve. The position primarily operates on weekends with occasional weekdays, on an as-needed basis in the State of Arkansas.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician
- Experience performing visual fields, OCTs, and Fundus Photography is required
- Experience with computers, including knowledge of and experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
- Must have own transportation for site traveling
Responsibilities
- Helping the optometrist with procedures and patient care
- Taking patient histories and maintaining the patient records system
- Assisting patients to select a suitable frame for their glasses
- Demonstrating care and maintenance of lenses to patients
- Repairing minor issues with broken and damaged eyeglasses
- Keeping the office organized and presentable, and making the exam room ready
- Testing visual acuity, depth perception, pressure and pupil reflexes
