About The Position

Warm Valley Health Care is seeking a dedicated Optometry Technician to join our Optometry/Eye Care Services team. This role supports the Optometrist in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive eye care to patients of the Wind River Reservation. The ideal candidate is patient-centered, detail-oriented, and committed to serving our community with professionalism and respect.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in healthcare, optometry, ophthalmology, or related clinical support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity.
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with EHR systems and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) or higher.
  • Two years of optometry or ophthalmology experience.
  • Experience working in Native health or with tribal communities.
  • Bilingual skills (English and a Native language spoken on the Wind River Reservation).

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and obtain accurate medical and ocular histories.
  • Perform clinical testing, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, lensometry, keratometry, visual field testing, OCT, fundus photography, and corneal topography.
  • Assist with contact lens fittings, training, and ordering.
  • Provide patient education on eye health, treatments, and contact lens care.
  • Document all procedures and findings in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Support referrals, care coordination, and follow-up for specialty services.
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
  • Participate in community outreach such as school screenings and health fairs.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.
