About The Position

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs. Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring an Optometry Assistant! An ideal candidate would be an excellent multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent customer service skills. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)).

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of previous Optometry experience required
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records required

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of previous Optometry experience preferred
  • RPMS, Revoluation EHR, and/or EPIC preferred
  • Paraoptametric certification or Medical Assisting certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical assistance to the clinic's Optometrist.
  • Responsible for greeting and checking in patients into the optometry clinic when needed.
  • Reviews the optometry appointment schedule and schedules as needed.
  • Orders, dispenses, and adjusts eyeglasses for patients; interprets eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions.
  • Responsible for completing and following up on consults made to outside providers.
  • Prepares examination and treatment rooms; cleans and maintains ophthalmic instruments.
  • Performs basic routine vision screening examinations as well as special testing.
  • Assists in other duties, as assigned
