About The Position

The Optometrist conducts eye exams for Acuity Eyecare Group and strives to practice to the full capacity of their license. The role supports practice growth by building patient relationships and educating patients about eyecare. The Optometrist evaluates vision and eye health, diagnoses and treats relevant conditions, provides counseling and referrals, and communicates recommendations to opticians and other sales staff.

Requirements

Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

Conduct eye exams and perform vision tests; analyze the results.
Establish long-term patient relationships through proper patient care and education.
Interview patients before examinations to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for the visit, and visual wants and needs.
Explain, recommend, and advise patients about options for addressing refractive errors, systemic and ocular disease, and visual needs; recap the discussion with support staff.
Generate patient loyalty and promote the profession of optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values.
Diagnose vision problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases.
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation (brand specific).
Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery, including examining patients after procedures such as cataract or refractive surgery.
Evaluate patients for diseases such as diabetes and refer them to other healthcare providers within the appropriate time frame.
Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining contact lens cleaning and wear and how often to have eye examinations.
Clearly communicate recommendations to opticians and other sales staff for suitable lenses, including current high-technology coatings and designs.
